The Oneness of the Church By Emerson J. Estes In
Ephesians 4:4-6, we read,
"There is one body, and
one spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one
faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all..." Again,
"But now are there many
members, yet but one body." (1
Cor. 12:20). The one body is the church. "He is the head of the body,
the church..." (Col.
1:18). "For his
body's sake, which is the church." (Col.
1:24). The church, which is his body.
"And hath put all
things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the
church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all."
(Eph. 1:22-23).
Since the Lord organized but one body, and that being the church, it
follows, with the strongest degree of certainty, that He sent in order only
one church.
