Thoughts To Ponder

The highest reward
for man's toil is not what he gets for it,
but what he
becomes by it.

Accept Your Responsibility

by David A. Cox

In 2 Samuel 11, we read of David's sin with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah. After having committed fornication with Bathsheba, David learned that she was with child. David tried desperately to hide the terrible sin he committed and eventually had Uriah killed and took Bathsheba to be his wife. David here was not wanting to accept the responsibility of his actions by admitting his unfaithfulness to God. The prophet Nathan came to David in 2 Samuel 12 and told him that even though the sin was hidden from men, God was aware of his sin and that David was responsible for his actions. Although, the consequences of David's sins would remain, he could receive forgiveness from God by accepting responsibility of his sins and repenting of them.

Thinking about this, makes us to think how that man must accept responsibility for his actions. Some have in the past committed sins, but never have made correction of them. They believe as time passes people will forget the wrongs of the past and think only of the good they do. But if sins committed in the past go uncorrected, we will stand before God to give account of those things (Romans 14:12; 2 Corinthians 5:10). God want us to repent and when we repent He will forgive us (2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 1:9). Like in the case of David, there may be consequences of the sins that we will carry with us for the rest of our life, but in the judgment we will not hear these things mentioned because God will have forgiven us of our sins as we have made correction (Hebrew 10:16-18).

Are you accepting your responsibility? Or, are there matters in your life which need correcting? If so, accept your responsibility and correct your life now.
